I have found some information on the Archdall side of the family all they way back to John Archdale who died before 1557. They were from England but Johns grandson moved to Ireland. He obtained by Letters Patent on 13 July 1612 a grant of land at Tallanagh, Lurg, County Fermanagh, Ireland on which the old Castle Archdale was built in 1615.
The name change came about with Venerable John Archdale & Elizabeth Donnellan's children,
Frances Archdale
Elizabeth Archdale
Reverend John Archdall - I do not know why.
This family seem to have everything in it, churchwarden, sherif, balif, chamberlain, merchants, clergy, Archdeacon, vicars, goldsmiths, cheif magistrate etc
There is a lot to get through (at least 300 names) so it will be a few weeks before it will be online,
